Merced City Council to discuss massage ordinance, fees
A revised ordinance on massage establishments and the annual report on development impact fees are on the Merced City Council agenda for Dec. 21.
The regular meeting will be at 7 p.m.in the Council Chambers on the second floor of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.
Council held a public hearing Dec. 7 on the new ordinance regulating massage establishments after changes in the state law. At the hearing, Council decided that massage technicians with valid permits would be able to renew the City-issued permit for 10 years. New applicants will need to have a valid certificate from the state.
The City is required to make an annual report on Development Fees to show what funds have been collected and how they have been spent. The report also includes details on what projects the unspent money will be used on.
Also on the agenda, Council will consider awarding a $639,976.22 contract to Taylor Backhoe for the Stephen Leonard Park renovation project. The first time the project went out to bid the sole bid received was approximately $250,000 over budget. The City received $828,775 for the project from the state to install a splash park, skate park, climbing rock, playground equipment and remodel the restroom.
A closed session will be held at 6:30 p.m. to discuss potential litigation.
