The Recreation and Parks Commission advises the City Council on the following things:
- Recreation and parks
- Considers the annual budget for recreation and parks during the process of its preparation and makes recommendations with respect thereto to the City Manager and to the City Council
- Assists in the planning of a recreation program for the citizens of Merced
The Commission consists of seven members who serve four-year terms of office. This position requires the filing of a Statement of Economic Interests under the California Fair Political Practices Act guidelines.
Regular meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
