False Alarm Program
The City of Merced instituted a Fire Department False Alarm Program to help reduce the excessive number of Fire False Alarms occurring within the city. A Fire Department False Alarm is a fire alarm activation causing a response by the firefighters when an emergency situation does not exist.
The majority of fire alarms that the Fire Department responds to are false, resulting in a waste of resources by reducing emergency unit availability and creating unnecessary danger to citizens and firefighters. For excessive responses, a fee is assessed.
Call (209) 385-6905 immediately upon accidental activation of a fire alarm.
For further assistance regarding the false alarm program, please call (209) 385-6982 or email germanj@cityofmerced.org.
